Welcome aboard! I use hand helds, so I don't have any mounting advice

Welcome @dcole . For my JK hand held devices like the 67Design mounts have been super secure but coupled with the Vector Offroad mount system will offer even more versatility. Check out whether similar updated products have become available for the JL.

In my circle a known ham that I am. Seriously considering ham radio license since CB is used much less with limited range and now easier to get ham licensed as mentioned.

K7CAI Yes I am licensed. Have some handhelds but want to mount mobile 50 watt transceiver. Just wondering what other people have done.

I know Morse code but except working from collective stations never had my own licence. I was training for competitive Morse code speed Rx/Tx while a teen, then stopped and never really touch it, but the way they trained us, it's not going to get forgotten either.

Nobody tags me in this post? Come on guys!

A fender mount would be my suggestion. Either an upside down L bracket under the end of the cowl or a bit further down the fender with perhaps a flat bracket or a trunk lip mount.

As far as the radio a dual band with a remote head is the easiest solution.
The body of the radio can be mounted behind the knee panel underneath the steering column.

Yep, it's too bad there isn't a communication subforum here.

@Bob ...the HAM, interest may be growing here. Ham clearly has its advantages over cell and cb. Remote adventures are best served by a HAM.

When we get enough ham radio folks, we can jump to an entire subforum...

I didn't necessarily mean ham specifically.
