New guy here. I'm working on a 1985 CJ7 with the 258 engine, somewhere in the past the engine was replaced with another 258 and the heater hoses were changed and not installed correctly. The lower hose from the heater core was going to the back fitting on the intake. The front intake fitting went to the water pump bypass and the T stat housing fitting was going to the upper heater core tube. It didn't look right and everything was pieced together, so I took it all off to put on new I just bought a new Dayco heater hose with the formed 90 degree and want to be sure where it goes before I cut to length. Can anyone help? Thanks!

When you chose a picture off that list make sure it is for the later CJs as there is a difference. From the heater outlets the smaller hose goes into the back of the intake manifold and the front outlet on the intake manifold goes into the thermostat housing. The larger hose from the heater goes into the water pump. I would send you a pic of mine but I ditched the heater years ago. N.A.P.A. sells the correct hoses as I recall.

Jim thanks for the additional info, it helps. My CJ has a lot of issues going on under the hood, cut wiring, plugged sensors and wrong sized heater hose fittings. I'm just trying to get the thing to hold coolant, so I can work on the other problems. I'll follow your instructions and post a picture in the next day or so. P.S. JKBOB you did good! I appreciate the pics. Thanks, Duff

Changed intake fitting to 3/4, ran Dayco moulded hose from t stat to intake, 5/8 from rear intake to heater core, ran 5/8 from heater core to 3/4 connector and then to the water pump. Not pretty, but it'll get the CJ mobile again. Installed, rear main seal, timing chain, water pump and DUI distributor. Engine fired right up and ran really smooth. Thanks for all the help!
