I have a 2000 Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo. My driver side door will not open from the outside but will open with the inside handle. I popped the inside cover off and looked and all my connection rods and they are moving and still connected so it’s not the rods. If I look on the side of the door where are the latch is I can see some little plates that move through a dime size hole maybe smaller, It looks like there’s a couple of brass plates tighter 1 with some threads where a screw (I think) is supposed to go and another plate that swings back-and-forth with a bean shaped hole cut out of it that swings to the (whole where I think a screw goes). Just wondering if I’m right, and if anyone else can help.

this is confusing - your whatchamacallit might be a thingamabob to me BUT I have an idea...or 2.

    1) is the door locked? check with key as the electrical actuator may be an issue...
    2) As the passenger door operates - compare good RS to bad LS....

The diagram does not offer detail for discussion - I will post If I get a helpful diagram.

Lol!! I know it was kinda hard for me to explain the parts inside of the door . But I did figure it out a couple hours ago . It was what I though! It was a screw missing out of the hinge/latch. Mechanism at the bottom of the rod(For the outside door handle). It’s the screw that lets you adjust inside of the door handle to grab and unlatch the latch . Each door has one that you can easily access and tighten or loosen if need be. But thanks for trying to help. I really appreciate it .
