98 TJ. The rear floorboard gets quite hot due to location of stock muffler. Is there a remedy?
While you're here does anyone make an under rear seat tool box. Raising up the seat and a box underneath? How about a storage area attached to front rollbar extending across above visors. I am new to modern Jeeping. Ran a "42" in Alaska in the 70's.
    Thanks

Metal heat shields surround the area where the muffler resides under some vehicles. The JK has a metal heat shield directly above the muffler. Perhaps a visit to the wrecking yard can locate a few samples. Within the vehicle under the carpet some manufacturers use a fiber-type material /padding that can also absorb/deflect heat+noise. Start your low-profile metal truck tool box search based on the max distance between your TJ wheel wells.

I bet you could fab up your own heat shield with some 1/8th or even a scrap piece of thin sheet aluminum. Make a couple bends and drill a couple holes to mount it where it wouldn't get hit by anything underneath the jeep. I've thought about making some of my own skid plates and stuff but I just never get around to it lol

Let us know what you come up with. Just might help some of us do the same thing if the time ever comes.
