hey guys. New to the Jeep world. So I’m installing a subwoofer in my 2010 Jeep Patriot and i was wondering if there is a easy way to get my power wire from battery to the trunk.

Welcome! I don't know much about the electrical or sound end, but someone should pop in soon.

Welcome! Tapping into some 12V power to the sub running under the carpet shouldn't be too difficult.

On most vehicles the firewall has an entry point(s) into the vehicle that may be used. For example on the JK a plastic/rubber plug on the firewall may have other wires or cables running through can be used to run your wire. Consider other switched 12V power sources in the vehice that may meet your sub power demands.

    Welcome to the forum Rocco610.
I'm not familiar with the Patriot models. But as aggrex stated. There could possibly be a rubber grommet on the firewall where you can just punch thru and run your wiring thru it.

Are you installing 1) an already mated and put together sub and amp combination, or 2) are you adding a separate sub and amp that you put together your self. If #1 it sounds like just a matter of running a power and ground to the amp and then your done. 1st do what aggrex said and find a rubber grommet with enough room for you to add you power wire. It is OK to make a small cut in the grommet if needed. It is best if you can connect straight to the positive battery terminal. Once through the firewall it is easiest to run it under the carpet down the side of the Jeep so you don't have to remove your seats. There should be a large inline fuse between the amp and the battery. The ground should be less than 12in long if possible, and it should be equal to or thicker than the positive wire. Thicker is better. If the ground is too long and too thin the amp will overheat. Where ever you mount the ground for example the to the rear floor panel with a self tapping screw you must sand all of the paint off so that the ground has good contact to bare metal. I try to find something already bolted or screwd to metal and use that, but you still have to remove any paint or grease. Also if the amp/sub did not come with a power wire, make sure you read the instructions so that you install the correct thickness. Again thicker is better. Wire is measured in gauge, and the lower the gauge value the thicker the wire for example: 0 gauge wire is thicker than 2 gauge wire, or in the case of speaker wire: 14 gauge is thinner than 10 gauge wire. If you are installing option 2 and have questions get back to us. Good luck.

Boun-chicka-boun-boun. . . It is better this way to let everybody chime in that way there are several points of view on the subject. There is always more than one right way. I was building stereo systems when DJ Magic Mike had to be played on a cassette because his base rhyme would make the CD skip.

    Found this picture online.
You may have to pull the inner fender to get access but there is a large grommet on the driver side.
Poke a small hole and the wire through it.
