Hey guys. I have an annoying, and what i believe to be, minor prob. A few days ago, my battery, on my '06 Cherokee discharged completely. After recharging, i started it up, and 4 of the cluster icons stayed on. Thought if i just drove X amount of miles, they would reset to off, but they stayed on. Took off positive batt cable, for about 10 mins., hoping that would do it, but again, no good. The 4 icons are: #6-Air Bag, #9-Security Light, #11/16-ESP/BAS light. Any help, or suggestions?

Only thing I can think of, is to check fuses.

As Chris4x4 said. Also my thought. Not sure your Cherokee is like my 16 JK. But to clear lights. Turn on ignition, but don't start. And depress gas pedal 3 times within XX seconds. ????. :notsure:. Maybe....

Well, i tried your suggestion JK, and no luck. Tried it a few times, and even tried a few more brake pumps too, but that didn't work either. Didn't try the fuse suggestion Chris, as it is damn bitter cold here. It's supposed to get back to the normal January temps, in a few days, so maybe i'll get a chance to check the fuse suggestion out :frusty:

I know you disconnected the battery but you might try disconnecting both cables and touching them together to clear the computer.

I'm certainly not an automotive ace Prerunner, but that doesn't sound good. You sure that wouldn't do some major electronic damage?

Have had to do it on multiple JK Wranglers and it is a fairly common practice to clear Check engine codes.
The computer will have to relearn a few things but it's not a big deal.

But I understand your concern after all it is your vehicle.

Just re-read your post Prerunner, and at first i thought it meant sending power through cables, but touching them together, while OFF the batt terminals wouldn't. Thanks for the tip. Will try that tomorrow

Is there a minimum length of time the cables should be connected to each other Prerunner?

I usually just hold them there for about 5 seconds.

Well guys, apparently the aggravating prob, isn't so minor after all. I tried connecting pos/neg cables together for 1/2 hr, and had same icons on, after i started it. Knowing i wasn't going to be using it today, i re-connected cables together again, and left it like that over night. Same results, so for some reason, data hasn't been erased???? Is it possible i have to drive it X amount of miles, before they clear?

When running were there any check engine lights? These may have been cleared when the battery got disconnected. Rent borrow a code reader to check for any codes that may clue us any issues.

Might want to look at the fuses as mentioned earlier and consider getting the alternator/charging system checked out

Am planing on checking on checking fuses tomorrow Aggrex, but as any one who owns one of these beasts, you have to be a contortionist to get at them :) Could you explain why a discharged battery (my doing), would give me/you reason to check alternator/charging system?

Unless you know what discharged the battery (i.e. lights left on, age, etc), it's something ez to test to eliminate a variable
