    Have a 2002 Grand Cherokee 8cyl.

Problem: dies sometimes while driving. Sometimes it will start again and sometimes I have to let it just sit (minutes, hours, days).

Repair: I replaced fuel filter. It started right away, then it died after 2-3 minutes. It started again, drove it around neighborhood no problems. Parked it, wouldn't start later.

What could problem be? Fuel pump? Something else?

    Thanks for any help.

    Check fuel pressure for starters.

So if there's a pressure problem what would that indicate?

Lack of fuel pressure usually indicates a problem with the fuel pump

An erratic pressure reading will be for sure a bad pump, have fun changing it.

Check your sensors. When your Crankshaft sensor goes out it feels like you’re losing power actually you do lose power like your fuel is plugged. Then when it cools down it starts up and drives a little bit until it happens again

A 2002 GC just might send out a code indicating such an issue. I had a 96 grand that had a cps go bad and it never sent a code.
