Man.. memories. I wish I could remember the run but I remember getting off the lift, going a bit then looking down at the run and saying to myself… “I’m going to die” then cussing out the kids for trying to kill me as they took off without a worry in the world. They were late teens. I was in my late 30’s.

I'm guessing that was the Bridger lift. It has been reincarnated 3 times but the upper terminal is still in the same place. I do remember my first run off there, 1964. There was no road/easy way down at that time. And I was still pretty much in snowplow mode. It was a lengthy "run". I have a few slides of the era but I've never scanned them.

Slide scans from Bridger Bowl circa 1974. At the time, I was working on the Pro Patrol.

At the top of the original rope tow that went from the top of Bridger lift to the ridge. That rope required a rope gripper unless you had gorilla hands. It was a patrol only lift. View to south with Saddle Peak in the distance.

I did South Meadow Creek and the McKelvey Lake trails in the Tobacco Root Mountains (Montana) in the new to me 2006 TJ last week with a group from the Early CJ5 site. It has probably been 6 years since I last visited the McKelvey trail but it is just an excellent run-if you like rock. With the exception of the Falken Wild Peak AT's, which are pretty much useless in this terrain even aired down, the TJ did well.

Not much for trees around here at 10,000'. This trail gets you the highest of any in these mountains.
