I recently purchased my 12’ Liberty. Friday i noticed the alarm going off on it’s own and went out to check it and the “rear gate” warning was on. I cannot lock the vehicle without the alarm going off because it thinks the gate is open. I’ve seen quite a few people with the same issue and wondering what was done to resolve this issue. Any helps greatly appreciated!

Welcome! If the purchase was from a dealer they should get first crack at the problem otherwise check at the rear gate and surrounding areas for obstructions, dirty contacts, frayed or broken wiring, etc. Perhaps some WD40 could clean up dirty or sticking contacts/sensor.

Unfortunately i bought the car from a dealer that was 2 hours away. Going to take a look at the wiring this afternoon. The warning went away yesterday morning until i started driving it and it would flash on and off so I’m thinking it’s bad wiring or the sensor.
