I have a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and recently had a hitch installed,im told I need to have the tow package enabled (ecm or cm ) so my trailer brake lights and blinkers will work.Dealership wants $130 diagnostics fee.Does this sound right. Any input is appreciated

That's interesting and seems too much of Chrysler being a nanny and another way for them to make money.
Need those lights? Pay us to turn them on for you.

Welcome @Road Rambler 13 ....$130 service fee is not necessarily out of line if you lack the time, skill or tools to access the modules on your vehicle. However there might be programmers that can be purchased for DIY work. Check out http://jscan.net/ as your Jeep is listed on the website and contact them to see whether JSCAN can access the modules for the trailer brake lights/blinkers.

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for your input.I feel better knowing the computer thing ain't a scam and $130 bucks for an hour is probably pretty close to the goig rate.I did figure out that I can at least have one hot power supply without having the key on,a switchable fuse is always good.

It cost me more than that to get a spare key made for Greengo - it was close to $400 for two keys..... so no it isn't cheap dealing with the dealers.

Update:The trailer towing option was turned off in the tipm, had to download a file and run an update.it took a little better than an hour but brake lights and turn signals do work.It was $130 for the diagnostics hookup.
