I’m looking for a good mechanic in Northwest Alabama or near Nashville and Below.

anyone out there - I need to get my Jeep to a new Dealership or someone that can find an intermittent short or bad ground.

Yikes! good luck finding that. Just what are the symptoms? I fixed an occasional ignition miss on my '07 Grand 4.7 that the dealer could not locate by trading it in.

O.K., so are you getting a ping or a miss, or just the code?

It’s feeling like it is missing but not throwing any code except for the P0334 camshaft sensor. As I mentioned - it’s riding rough all over the place but especially in the 60-70mph range. It will come in and out like it’s not getting the correct gas or spark or voltage. I believe something is wrong in the circuit from battery to Alternator and Starter to PCM. Something is causing the car to not ride right and in turn throw that code.

I feel it is something simple that they are just missing. They say they cannot locate any bad grounds and also say that when scoped the crankshaft looked good. Apparently produced a good waveform. Tomorrow I have a code reader arriving...maybe that will help me. I ordered -
Innova 3130f Code Reader / Scan Tool with ABS and Bluetooth for OBD2 Vehicle

If it is really a slight or occasional miss the computer will not send a code. If you question your grounds you can always add your own. Like to the heads to get a good ground to the spark plugs. The starter has the biggest electrical draw, like a #4 cable from the battery negative to the starter mounting bolt. The computer is another good place, also the head lights. All the grounds should go to the battery negative. Steel, like from body sections makes a terrible ground location as it is a poor conductor of electricity, so use a copper wire. Paint does not conduct at all. Good luck with the scan tool.

It is riding rough all the time...so I’m really not getting what the problem is. Can I remove the connectors to the PCM to clean the connectors with cleaner? I just don’t want to mess anything up

I’ve heard there can be an electrical short in the alternator. I’m not sure what the heck is going on but it seems that right before I got the car an alternator and PCM were replaced to correct a battery light and airbag light that came on. Then my issues with the P0334 code began. Could my starter me shorting or the alternator not making a good contact but still testing good?

Tension or lack there of causing the rough riding

Good to know where and when the problem started. I would think where the issue is, it would be tied to the pcm, where it is tied in with the output for the alternator. I think the stealership would have picked that up, They should follow up with you on that.

Not necessarily, although it does give you a place to start.

I’m curious if it is still linked to that fuel pump relay recall they have still not resolved...

Right - but wouldn’t this have been replaced with the wire harness...???
