    • So here is my 1980 CJ7. Has 70k miles. I have the original rims for it (tarnished) I am contemplating a simple rebuild....standard steelies (spare tire type) and to dress this thing down. My one aquaintence says trade it for something closer to what I want as someone may want it "as original". This is my first Jeep. I just want simple, stupid, functional. This sat in a garage for 25 years. Original owner sold it to me. He never beat it, just old dude in his 80's and he wanted to clean out the garage before he couldn't do it. It has one small hole in frame at rear pass. wheel well....I was going to do a frame off restore. Body has holes...was just gonna puddy it up and drive it..if anyone wants this please contact me. It is not going to happen for a while (lots of other projects in the cue) . Jeep has 6 cylinder , manual trans, PS/PB . I am open to nearly any vintage but would prefer PS/PB...as my wife will drive it. I want to eventually have a fiberglass body, so that would be a plus.
4 cylinder is fine. CJ5/7 or even older.....were just gonna bang around in this thing. Thanks Ironwood near Pittsburgh, Pa.

Well, no really sell, swap maybe, but I know if I keep this particular Jeep it would be a shame to make into this simple style like I want, and yes I know this is a CJ5 with a fiberglass tub...this all I want...not into chrome AT ALL! Thanks for viewing. Ironwood

Taking the chrome off is no big deal. Most did not come with chrome. It was added. That grill is likely a chrome overlay that someone added with paint the same color as the jeep underneath. A new factory black bumper is $75 +/- at Qudaratec.com Black mirrors $40, Wipers $30, and hood latches $40. Then you are virtually chromeless. I will say that I have noticed that we are starting to see some color and chrome come back.

That interior is awesome. You don't find it in that good of shape after 30+years.

I THINK the chrome grill overlay and chrome front bumper are part of the Laredo pkg, probably factory stuff.

@Mark at the beach . Unfortunately. This thread is about 2 years old. And the original poster hasn't been on since Feb. 2018. So don't expect an answer. :notsure:.
