2001 grand cherokee, I would like to add 2wd, what would I use for a donor to get everything I need?

No one adds 2WD to a jeep but whatever; a donor vehicle of the same vintage would be the quickest and most comprehensive way to convert your jeep. Might consider selling your jeep and buying a different jeep because it's not only the parts that need exchanging.

I have had jeeps with 2w 4 hi and 4 low, should just be an issue with transfer case, maybe thought that someone would know what tc would work. That was back when jeeps were jeeps and not Chrysler's

    None I know of
Hello I am probably too late to be of any help. But Typically, the 4.o liter straight 6 has the select trak 2 and the 4.7L V8 has the quadra trac which is 4 wheel drive all the time hi or low.
I love the selecta trac because I can use 2 wheel drive to save money on gas when I use jeep as a daily driver but have the 4 wheel part time or 4 wheel full time for weather or off road fun never used the 4 wheel low or neutral postions on the transfer case.

I have often wondered if I could drop a V8 into a straight six engine compartment to create a 2 wheel drive jeep with a bigger engine. but I never had the time or money to explore that option. I still have a 2004 with a 4.0 but Its worth more to me running then trying to create something new. I only have 188K on it. However my 2010 wrangler has 289K and may become spare part for my 2011 wrangler. So the old 2004 is my daily driver for work. How this helps.
