    howdy folks,

I'm looking for suggestions. I had Simrad electronics in my boat, so I'm pretty familiar with how sophisticated these things can be......don't need anything like that for the Jeep and the CanAm.

    So, my "requirements" would be.....

portable unit, battery operated preferred, somehow mountable to both vehicles.
    +
Decent size color display, so I can save different tracks in different colors.

That's really all I care about, touchscreen not necessary...........

    I appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!

Means... @chris4x4 has no idea what your talking about and can't help in any way. But he does want to learn. But please keep in mind. He does have a slight learning disability. So you may have to post your finds several times.. And please include pics. He.likes the posted pics in threads..

Take a look at Gaia GPS. It's pretty much the go to GPS app for "overlanders". You can create routes on the web and them download them to the device, it will track you, tell you distance, elevation, etc.
If you want to pay for the subscription you can get a ton of different map overlays and such. If you are interest in a subscription my friends at Lifestyle Overland have a little discount available: https://www.gaiagps.com/lifestyleoverland/
I realize it's not a stand alone unit but on a phone or tablet it can easily be transferred from vehicle to vehicle with Ram Mounts or Scosche magnetic mounts, etc.
