my wife's 2015 Cherokee is experiencing a problem with dash and GPS dimming, after a few min it brightens dim/bright every few minutes. I went out to check it and found her beanie baby over the sensor in the middle of the dash. Could that be the problem?

Welcome from North Central West Virginia
Be more clear what is the sensor you’re speaking of is it in the middle of the dash up close to the windshield ?? If so I think that is the automatic dimmer for the high beams.
    I don’t think that’s ur problem.

We do not have automatic dimmers. we have auto headlights which turns them on at dark and on at day. Moved the beanie baby and it seems to be OK now. I guess the thing was making the jeep think it was near dark

The sensor in the middle of the dash relays the message to the auto headlights. Partially covering that sensor with the beanie baby probably caused the system to think it's dark outside.
