No his scanner didn't throw the U code. I mentioned U code because my uncle is saying it's the ECM but the scanner isn't reading u0404. Even with the front drive shaft out, it still grinds in reverse and drive. I'm thinking the problem is more of an internal issue in the transmission

sure sounds like a internal trans issue but the p0700 and no codes suggests some more codes and the U 0404 would satisfy that as the missing code.

I do not see this as a DIYer.

I jumped on this one alil late. Labor Day.. But based on some things I've seen here. Right off the bat. No dip stick and apparently no regular fluid checks. Sounds like some major tranny issues. Agreed. Not DIY'er. Sorry @TinyInkognegroT . Good luck. And post up your finds and fix.

That is unfortunate. Your lookin at a used tranny for bout $350 without labor, to $1000 plus for a remaned. Good luck dude.

Okay this is weird... After letting her a Jeep sit for a couple of days, I went outside to start it and go through the gears. When I put it in reverse, it jumped in reverse but wouldn't move. When I put it in drive, it jumped into gear but wouldn't move. Both reverse and drive had no grinding. I put it back in park, and it grinded. I went back and forth five or six times and the only grinding was in park...

Yes I'm about to get to it. I'm also trying to figure out why my fuel pressure on my 93 ZJ is 30 PSI

@Awrench The engine is 3.7, the reverse lights come on, and I can push it while it's in park

Turns out the correct PSI for fuel pressure is 30-33. 39 - 40 with the vacuum hose off the regulator

what is your system with vac removed from regulator ?

Anyway might want to change fuel filter first - The filter is located under the vehicle near
    front of fuel tank.

It's not removed, I read that online. The fuel filter look brand new and it didn't have any restriction when I blew through it on both ends and the gas wasn't super dirty.

IIRC are we seeing a LEAN o2 sensor code?
If that is correct we need to look closely at this pressure issue.
Suggest you try with the vac fuel regulator unplugged - 30 is at the low end and volume may also be low...

Okay today is my birthday so I'm going to work half a day at work today and when I get back I'll take the vacuum hose off the regulator and try the fuel pressure.
