anybody know what causes it? It's intermittent. Drivers door, unlocks (all doors) just fine, won't unlock.......except very occasionally. Passenger door unlocks just fine, and locks almost all of the time. I can't seem to see a pattern........thinking voltage but have proved that wrong.

dirty switches? You would think there would be some consistency......ugh!

There could be a wire broken in the harness that goes through the door jam, or a solder joint on one or more of the door lock relays could be broken. The relays are in the passenger side arm rest. You can hit the solder joints with a soldering iron and reset the solder joints.

My lock work intermittently as well but I can hear the relays clicking. I haven't hit the relays with a soldering iron yet but that is the plan. We shall see.

Could be a linkage loose in the actuation?

Mine had the same issue. Ran into someone in a parkin log one day and we started talking. His XJ had the same issue. Apparently it's an issue as the jeep older. I never opened it up to see what the issue was. But from what I've been told. It is a relay problem. You hit the lock and you can hear it. It's just not doing what it's intended to do. So I tend to agree with Prerunner1982. Id start there.
