So I am having a no start issue on my 2002 Jeep Wrangler. It is an automatic transmission so I have narrowed my search to it being my neutral safety switch I believe. I know where it is located but I can’t seem to get it out. My drive shaft is right in front of it and I can’t get my deep socket to fit in there. Does anybody know another way to remove this?

Welcome to the site! I don't think the automatic has a neutral safety switch. I could be wrong, so hopefully someone else can post up some advice.

It has one it looks like a three pronged plug. Like I said I have the part I just can’t get anything in there to take it out

Welcome! Would removal of the front drive shaft make the NSS more accessible? My experience with NSS replacement on the transverse engines was relatively ez. Would swivel sockets help?

I’m not too sure. I’m fairly new at working on any vehicle haha so I’m trying to just figure things out as I go but to get the nss off I need a 1 in deep socket but the on I have is like three inches long it’s too long and I can’t seem to find a socket that isn’t that long. I think maybe like 2.5 inches long would work but I don’t think they make them

If the socket depth is the issue then invest in a few different depth deep sockets. This will bolster your tool box socket choices for the next task.

Are you sure you are looking at the nss? The AW4 trans nss is on the passenger side, driveshaft on the right side.
    What trans do you have?
