I recently purchased a 1999 grand Cherokee all wheel drive. It has 285/75 r 16 on and rear and 265/75 r 16 on front. I know that tire size must be equal on all 4 wheels. I amwondering what damage was caused to the transfer case and differentials. The front drive shaft turns freely when engaged in all wheel drive between the transfer case and the front differential and in 4 low it goes to low range but the front shaft does not engage the front axle differential. I an going to put the proper size tires on it and change the transfer case fluid. If that does not solve the problem. What is the next step? I am possibly considering swap to NP(nv) 242 system. What would you recommended to solve the problem.
