Transmission with no power after a jerk while driving

    2002 Jeep Liberty Renegade
    I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty Renegade Edition, I will be driving along normally and all of a sudden my transmission jerks, then when I come to a stop and I go to take off again it barely moves until I restart the engine. What is the cause? There has been no transmission trouble codes so far.

    Welcome! Any CEL or indicators? Sounds like a case of Jeep transmission limp mode syndrome. Typically the transmission shifts into second or third gear and stays there. Get the trans issue checked out sooner than later.

    start with checking trans fluid, level and colour.
    As mentioned SCAN for codes, free scans at many auto parts stores - autozome advanced oreilys et al did I mention FREE! write the codes down and post here.
