at times when i turn the key to start my 2011 jeep liberty, the engine will just turn over without starting. i have to turn key off and try to restart, sometimes 9-10 times before starting. any ideas?

nope- just a dry cranking. i saw a video where a guy said it was vapor locked. one solution he had was to turn the key to the aux. setting to start the fuel pump, but i'm trying to find a more reliable solution

Is this a new sudden problem? I'd inspect the battery cables & multiple ground wires on the frame/engine for corrosion or breaks. Had a badly corroded ground wire on a Bimmer causing weak / intermittent starts that nearly cost me an expensive tow. I used a jumper cable to make a temporary ground and BOOM it started like a champ then immediately cancelled the tow truck.

it's been off and on for a while. it's not a battery / ground issue. it seems to happen more when we are in a hot area and the jeep has been running for a considerable distance. when engine is cold, there has not been a problem. fires right up.

ok- i think i figured it out. it is vapor locking. after running the jeep, i shut it off and then restart. starts fine. if i let it sit for 10 minutes- it just cranks. after about an hour, i can restart with no issues. so-- can anyone suggest a way i can prevent the vapor lock?
