Jeep sent me a flimsy USB drive to update the software powering my Information System, including the radio and GPS. The instructions do not mention several things and I wasted time fiddling with the drive and calling Jeep Service. These tips may help you:

    (1) Do NOT use the USB port that is directly below the radio, instead use the one in your armrest compartment or your glove box. The girl at Jeep Service could not explain why.

    (2) The girl at Jeep Service did not know if you the USB drive goes in gold-tabs up or gold-tabs down. The USB card fits both ways. Since my armrest USB port is sideways, I had to figure this out by trial and error.

    (3) When you insert the USB drive, at first nothing happens! When nothing appeared on the screen within 30 seconds, I thought that I had the drive in backwards and flipped the USB drive over. You have to wait TWO minutes for a screen to come alive. Once this happens, you're good to go. It took about 25 minutes to load and install.

Of course, you can download the same software from Jeep onto your own USB drive or SD card.

    Good luck! - Fritzer
