I have a 2000 jeep wrangler and I used (https://www.extremeterrain.com/jeep-wrangler-fluid-capacities.html) website to aid me in the fluid I should use. I scrolled to the TJ fluids and it said to use a 75w 90 GL 3 or 4 (I used royal purple max gear)thinking I had a AX 15 tranny. Well after doing the change I found out I have a NVG 3550 which came new on 2000 wranglers and it calls for a syncromesh or max. Now I'm wondering if I can keep the gear oil I just put in it or should I change it. The max gear is safe for yellow metals but has a friction modifier. Will this be fine until I can buy the right stuff?

Welcome aboard! I would change out the fluid and use the correct stuff. Its gonna cost more, but still less than transmission issues.
