My daughter sent me this pic of my jeep she is driving. She is many miles from home and I don't know what it could be. looks like it is attached to the front axle for support. Is it the drain from the cowl?

Is it an axle breather? If it is, should it go to the air cleaner?

That looks like the axle breather hose. See if she can use some zip ties to secure it along the frame near the shock. Don't want to damage or lose the hose while away from home. Axle needs to breathe without taking in water. Hose does not connect to anything. Should have a white cap at the end.

If you don't have the white cap or check valve at the free hanging end, I have seen guys just install a small breather cap which can be purchased at an auto parts outfit. It just has to be mounted high enough under the hood so that it does not get any water or other crap in it.
