In the door of my jeep there a piece attached to the inside door handle. When you pull the inside door handle this piece (a bent small diameter bent rod) engages the latch and the door opens
Mine got bent and doesn't work.
What is this piece called? I need a new one and can't seatc for it as I don't know what it's callef
I would really appreciate sny I can get

I think that part is called the door latch operating rod. If you cant bend it back into shape, it should be under $20.00 for a replacement.

I would try to get that obscure part at the Jeep parts department as the cost should not be excessive. IMO wrecking yards might rather sell a complete door than have you dissasemble one for that part.

I'll give it a try. But the door won't open using the inside handle. It's not a problem with the handle. The problem is in the rod or something not happenig when the inside handle is pulled. I can open the door from the outside no problem
    Any suggestions?

Using plastic pry tools <$8 a set at Harbor Freight will get that inner door panel off. Then you can observe/inspect the operations of that rod+latch and either reattach/bend/replace that metal rod.

I had the door panel off and it connected at both ends. If you're the passenger side back seat youre out of luck because it just does not open the door from the inside. I rebent the bar and the system works fine. It just doesn't open the door.

I thought I had. I went out to check on the child lock and found something interesting. The tab that you move was not there. I fished around in the slot with a long screw diver. I fiddled with it a bit and
After a bit I felt something move
I got into the jeep and pulled the inside handle and it opened rigjt .I laughed at my stupidity for a couple of minutes
Thank you all for helping me.

I didn't know if she would want the jeep. My wife was going to break the news to her and see what would happen.
As soon as my wife told my daughter I was getting another jeep. She broke in and asked "And I get the jeep he's driving now?" Lol, she was so damned excited. It was great to see.
