Yesterday while driving, my Jeep died. Seemed like it was probably the alternator. After getting towed home, I had the alternator and the battery tested. The battery is bad. The alternator is good. So, can a bad battery cause a running car to die if the alternator is good?

Welcome! If the battery is bad and the voltage drops too low your jeep could stall. Alternators stressed from extended attempts to charge the dead or dying battery may also be damaged.

Yes. Battery could have more then one dead cell.. Mine had one dead cell. Would barely start but then die, but battery and alternator tested fine with electronic testers.. My boss showed me how to test each cell with hydrometer and one was dead.. New battery, problem solved ..

I didn't know about the multi meter way.. But with a hydrometer, his open th e caps on the battery suck up some fluid with the hydrometer and the arrow points in the green or red.. Or good /bad depends on how it's marked. Squirt it back in and check the next hole till done. If any are bad, replace battery.
