Welcome! Any other clues like click-click or cranking only or DOA?

Welcome from Florida. Does that mean key turns to start and nothing happens or is there a clicking noise? Are dash lights lighting up? More info is needed. Is this a stick or automatic? Any aftermarket alarms? Etc...

Clicking noise, dash lights on, automatic 3.8L

    Genesis dual battery kit installed
    2 yellow top optima batteries
    Mean green starter and alternator

Question: can a key get decoded and cause this problem?

How old are your batteries? Did you happen to drain them? If you have a clicking sound at the starter is usually a dead battery. You have enough juice to light dash. But not turn starter. Could be corroded cables also. Check your terminals, make sure their clean and tight.

check your grounds. If the batteries are good; it sounds like you have a bad ground. clean the +and- terminals with terminal cleaner or 200 grit sandpaper and also clean out the inside of the cable. Also check your ground at the block and make sure you ground is tight.[IMG]

Didn't I more or less just say that???. And 1 like. It's all good. ?????. I really shake my head some times.
These have been around since like what. The 60s. Didn't think I needed to post visual effects. But thanks OFFGRID for your post. Thought i covered it in my post without pointing out the obvious. It's all good. Don't really care dude.

@JKBob 25 You did. I like visuals. Lots of new to mechanics people don't know these things. I also like to reaffirm anothers post and like when ya'll confirm my posts. It gives more confidence to the people reading these that it is the right way to go about their issue. Also I don't mind if someone dissagrees with me on a post. They may actually have the right answer. Sometimes I get a little tunnel vision. Not trying to step on your toes, just trying to stand next to you.

It's great that we work as a team on these off-the-wall one-time hit+run questions that are sometime brain teasers as usually important clues are missing for an online repair. I appreciate OffGrid's critique of my medieval hand tools for parts extraction...

Man enough to admit. I kinda over reacted. Not the first time for me. And probably not the last. Lol. Sorry @OFFGRID.
