I bought Jeep at 5:30 pm on 12-31-2016 and stranded me at 8:30 pm spent on highways till 11:45 pm on New Years. It has 1800 miles it turned off on my wife while she was driving, when I got there 4x4 was engaged all lights were on check engine, brakes, traction control, etc. couldn't disengage 4x4 was stuck in neutral had to turn off key so I could put in park. After a while wouldn't start and was not able to pull in nuetral. Has anyone had this problem or knows what it might be? Dealership is saying tcm but I don't know

Did it sputter and die? There is definitely a bad module of some sort if you are getting the Christmas tree dash. Did they happen to tell you what codes were coming up?

There is an excellent chance the TCM is, in fact, the issue. These rigs will go into a deep "limp mode" is there is much of an issue anywhere in the vehicle and definitely for a tranny issue. And the issues you speak of are specifically related to the tranny as well...so lets hope they got it right.

Good luck... please keep us informed. Knowledge on the Renegade is a bit sparse yet.

Did you buy it used? Some rental places put a ign kill if it leaves town...if you bought it used they might not have removed it...look for a black box near the steering column that doesn't look like it belongs there...if you see it don't mess with it cause you don't know how it's wired and you can do yourself worse...take it to your dealer to have it properly removed
