Hi All—brand new Jeeper here. I am wondering when I should use 4x4 part time instead of the 4x4 auto on my Wrangler Sahara? I don’t do a lot of off roading but am wondering for snow/ice conditions as I am in Colorado. In normal road conditions I am obviously in 2 wheel, but am confused when it comes to snow what part time vs auto is? Thank you!

4wd Part Time is to be used when the road conditions allow the tires to slip.
In Part Time the front and rear driveshafts are "locked" together and will turn the tires at the same speed. If the road surface does not allow the tires to slip, binding will occur and can cause damage.
4wd Full Time (sounds like 4wd AUTO is the new name for Full Time) has a differential between the front and rear driveshafts that allow the front and rear tires to turn at different speeds allowing it to be used on dry/non slick road surfaces.

Welcome @anick15 ...the 4x4 auto in the Sahara is a nice upgrade from the regular part-time transfer case. Varying snow/ice to dry road conditions makes the 4x4 auto ideal for traversing those conditions or can be left on. Report back if the mpg hit is significantly affected versus 2WD. When weather conditions worsen part-time can be engaged ensuring 50:50 power split front+rear axle.
