If you would like to keep factory lines with a clean look up would search AEV.

I'm sorry, I didn't notice at first that you are in a tj not jk, I don't think AEV makes bumpers for a tj. I am not as familiar with the tjs, maybe one of the guys with one will chime in soon.

Depends on your budget and your design specs. Some jeepers want stubby, some want full-width, some want winch mount, some want the stinger, etc. Your question is a bit broad as lower quality budget friendly varieties are available even on ebay while top notch versions can be very spendy. Check out the offerings from Extreme Terrain or Quadratec to start your research.

Howell fuel injection, header, HEI distributor, TH350, NP208, SOA lift with YJ springs in the front & GW springs in the Rear. AMC20 with G2 1 piece chromos trussed, Dana 30 with G2 chromos and 760x ujoints and MM Stainless Hubs, Geared 4.56. Tom Woods shafts, Metal cloaks, Caged, 37" Toyo MTs.
A couple things I look for are, plate thickness of at least 3/16 in construction. I don't like bolt on parts like the stinger or bullnose or endcaps. Everything should be one piece after welded together. This makes for a stronger more durable product. I use my bumper to help wedge up over steep walls to get purchase with my front tires and sometimes coming off a wall the rear bumper can take a hard hit. My bumpers have no dents only scratches. Look for MADE IN USA!

One more thing....bumper weight and bulk would factor into my decision when bumper shopping. I like RockHard bumpers and rock sliders

Agree with aggrex. Weight is a big factor with me. Getting great mpgs and I want to keep it that way. With the added weight, soon to be added of a full size spare. I have no plans on installing a new rear bumper. But, what I have decided to do is add a versa hitch with 3 receivers. 2 of which you can add D rings and the center, a 2" ball. Instant looking custom bumper for about $ 160. And added weight is very minimal. Just a thought.

I'm on the side of more steel. My front bumper weighs 125#. I went with a full width, mostly because I like the looks :crapstorm:

I'm like 50/50 on this. I want steel for the strength but st a certain point the jeep is just so weighed down. I have plate stubby bumper and winch, plate stubby rear bumper, plate corner guards and a large steel type tire carrier. It's just so much damn weight!

Yeah....I hear that. 125# front, 80#-ish on each side, 110#-ish in the rear, and 180#-ish underside........kinda makes my lunch look like no big deal :)

BUT....it makes for a good perch when working on things.

And....for the record....I was using the hood for shade. Most times I work on it, I flip the hood up onto the windshield. :)

Ever forget the bull bar is there and backflip yourself? I'm sure I would! Does anyone know if TJ bumpers can fit on YJs? I've heard they do if you elongate some holes but haven't confirmed.
