Has anyone heard of or had experience converting the 15gal gas tank to 19gal by simply cutting the tank vent hose? If so, did that change the pump/sensor performance?

Although I have the 20 gallon poly tank, I know it can be don on a YJ. My understanding is that the 2.5 TJ also has the same issue, a 19 gallon tank that you can't fill past 15. Easy way to get an additional 5 gallons (or 4 in your case). Lots of info online about how to do it. If the vent line won't pull up, you may have to remove fuel pump and cut all but about 1.5" off the vent line. Shortening the vent line allows you to fill the tank to capacity without the pump shutting off. It will have no effect on your fuel pump, but using the 15 gallon sending unit will probably leave your fuel gauge on the full mark till you drop below 15 gallons.
