Hello! I'm new to the forum. I've had 5 jeeps: 4 Cherokee Sports and a Grand Cherokee. I've loved all of them but currently have my sites on a Wrangler. I was in Montana for the past 10 days and saw a beautiful blue Smokey Mountain and cannot locate the color on the jeep.com site and a dealer I spoke with couldn't locate it on his ordering page. I did not have pencil and paper on hand and as such couldn't leave a note.
If anyone knows the name of the color and whether or not it's possible to order new or preferably find used please advise. Please see attached photo.
NOTE: If this is your vehicle please accept my apologies for posting a photo of it without your consent and if you'd like to sell I'm in the market!

    Thanks all :)

Welcome! Based off the contrasty pic I'm guessing hydroblue.

Welcome to the forum imajeepgirl. First time I saw that Hydro Blue I liked it. Test drove a 16 JK. But they wanted 2k more than I had to spend. That's one color I think would look great with chrome upgrades. Yes....I said chrome. Lol.
Yeah....jump in on that. Would be great to have as many members as possible. Good luck with your search. And just a note. I didn't pick the color of my Jeep. It picked me. And I really like it.

I think the Hydro Blue has picked me too. I'd never seen that color before on a jeep before spotting it in Montana. The location it was parked, with the background -- I thought I'd died and gone to heaven :amen:.

Question - I've been told that the 2018's are going to have some body style tweaks that don't sound very appealing. It was also mentioned that you can still purchase the current body style until March, and then the new body will be the only one in production going forward. I'm curious. Does anyone know if this is true? I'd prefer used but that color is fairly rare in my area.

I think it's love at first sight. Your 2018 JL description mirrors what I heard on the Internet.

Yes the 2018 JL will be a little longer and have a windshield that is a little more sloped than the current JK.
I have seen reports that the production will run side by side with the JK for a brief period of time.

For the latest on what's happening in the world of Jeep feel free to check out the Jeep Talk Show (Podcast).

I try to stay away from first run production vehicles. Seems to take a year or so to work any "bugs" out.

I do to, except when the only changes are cosmetic. I haven't heard yet, but I would think that the drivetrain will be the same in the 2018. It is just getting facial reconstruction. I bought the 2008 Ford the first of its body style. First with the 6.7 and diesel filter and 6speed tranny etc, etc. It was a nightmare. So much so that the GenMgr even traded me a 2009 and I only had to pay for the leather upgrade. It wasn't much better.

It's getting a new 8 speed auto trans which is why the new JL is longer, they stretched nose to accommodate the new trans.

The hood is definitely about 2" longer than the JK/JKU.

Also some of the body panels are rumored to be Aluminum such as the doors, hood and front fenders.

The more they try to soften (ride), aero (mpg), widen (safer) the Wrangler to near SUV proportions the less it becomes uniquely tied to its heritage. The JK is much heavier than the early Wranglers and the redesign might save a few pounds with aluminum but stay tuned.

I'm definitely going to stick with the older version JK. Why change a good thing? My Grand Cherokee has 8 or 9 speeds and I absolutely hate it. It feels like it doesn't know what gear it wants to be in. :ballchain:
