I have 97 Jeep Wrangler Sport that I love so very much. Last year I had a problem with my air conditioning and the mechanic that I had been taking it to gave me an outrageous quote to fix it. So he then to,d me since it was fall he could just bypass the air conditioner and save me money until I could get it fixed. I asked him very clearly if I would still have heat and defrost and he assured me that I would. Well I have neither and I can handle the cold but not when my windshield is fogging up. I do not take a t to that mechanic anymore bc I was having a very loud metal on metal popping noise that he said was a broken axle. I felt he was not being truthful so I took it to a mechanic that was highly recommended and found out it was the spider gears. First mechanic wanted to charge $2600. The new mechanic fixed it for a little over $600. Learned my lesson. So I am wondering if anyone has had issues with the air and heating coil in their Jeeps and if so what is the best route to take? Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome @Cinr13 ....not sure what was done to the jeep to bypass the a/c but it will be tough to get effective defrosting on some days without a/c or heat. Perhaps some Rain-X and squeegee on the inside

Can you define the problem with your A/C a little more? Was it really loud or just not putting out cold air? It sounds like he removed the relays to the A/C and the fan. If you put your hand up to the heat vent in the floor does it have a little hot air? This is ridiculous.
