    pics, i hope.
the blk is my 00,daily driver, wheels from the 98.
the 98 was camo/primer/? when bought 3 yrs ago. its washing off!! looks like home made lift and chopped fenders/bumpers. it was my first ever jeep so i knew nothing then, not much more now!.
i got to like it but not the road handling or looks so i found the 00 for 1200 out the door.
did new floor pans, brake lines and starter. on a decent day in ?feb i sanded bubbles on the hood and rattle canned it. might do better if the weather ever gets warm..
i stopped the vent water leak so floors should be ok now.
the 4.0 is a gutsie engine in these light vehicles.100_5181.jpg 100_5183.jpg

Nice 00 XJ. I had one for 14 years. I loved it. That Cherokee didn't owe me a dime when I traded her in for my JK. But I still kinda miss it. Hope you have the same luck I had with mine. Good luck with the 98 rebuild. I'm sure you'LL have fun with it.

That 00 XJ looks like a great Jeep to build upon. JKbob's XJ is my inspiration if I ever find a clean XJ

my only plans for 00 is keep everything working and control minor rust. just had the pass window quit. then make it look like new!
it runs great, good gage readings but noise, possible piston slap. since it has the famous 331 head ill run it till it dies and do a reman 4.0 170000 mile4s now.
i really enjoy driving it. may sell the 98 since the engine wont really go into the 00 if needed.

I bought it with 36k. Traded it in it with 199,600 plus on it. Only major issue I had with it was when I changed anti- freeze, and didn't put cap back on right. Cooked the motor.Dropped a Jasper in. Which was a great motor. Had the usual go. Starter around 190k. AC Compressor bearings in the 190's. Other than that. Changed the oil, which I only used 100% synthetic. Greased them joints. And just basic maintenance.

Near the end. I did get a whistling sound. Which I assumed was a vacuume leak. So minor. Never really explored it. Knowing they are known for exhauste mani leaks. Didn't hurt any thing. So I left it knowing I was going to trade it in in the next year or more. But no. Never had an issue with the head.

    Ps. 2oldjeeps.
Had my pass side window quit too. Talked to other XJ owners. Seems to be a common issue. Never looked more it to it. Just ran the window from my side. Also. One of Jeeps great models. I live at the Jersey shore. Salt is a big time cancer contributor. And I had a very minor issue on the drivers side back window. Other than that. No other body, frame, or where you would never think to look for rust issues.

Awesome year for an awesome jeep. And I found a great fix for those graying bumpers. (Back to black sucks)

I used ArmorAlls. Outlast. It's a trim and plastic restorer. I put it on 3 or 4 times. And they practically looked brand new. Stuff worked really well. I recommend it.
