Well , having a Jeep Wrangler has been a dream of mine for many years... I finally pulled the trigger..and.......absolutely love my 2016 black 4 door JK..(I have had a truck, izuzu amigo (showing my age ..lol), old jeep cherokee and still have a liberty in the driveway......but now I need to complete the ''dream'' wrangler ...I want wheels, new tires and a 3 inch lift...I am stuck on the wheel selection...all black versus black with some milling... any thoughts, suggestions ?? just some background... I am a nurse practitioner and do home insurance assessments and this is my daily driver .....I love the look of a lifted all blacked out jeep wrangler but also do not want to look like I am driving my son's ''ride'' to work...lol

Well.....For the wheels, the Black/Black thing is played out where I live, BUT, the Black/Milled would be a good option, in my opinion

Welcome @kathyjk . Post a few quick pics via "upload a file" tab. Real jeeps get down and dirty so a little mud in the pic will do you good. Check out the aftermarket wheels at Quadratec.com as they have nice pics of each wheel and have their own line that mirrors the OEM Rubi wheels in different shades.

I got a black 4 door as well and decided to go against what everybody else was doing(blacked out). I went with some grey colored 17" wheels. Turned out pretty good. But if I were to do it all over again I would go with a bronze colored wheel. Sooo sexy lol

    Hello Kathy, welcome from Oklahoma.
I agree that all black is getting a bit played out......and I drive a black XJ with black wheels.

I think bronze or grey wheels look good, not super flashy but still enough of a contrast.

    Welcome!

5 years ago when we built our '14 the wife wanted black wheels, but with a splash of something. We chose a company called BMF, they've now changed their name to SOTA. Here's the wheel we chose:

And here's what they looked like on our Jeep when new.

Our tastes have changed since then and her last build went in the complete opposite direction LOL We wanted an old school Jeep look, so we took this color pattern and made it our own.

Most importantly honestly is just make it your own regardless of what others think. Now if you put it on 24's with 30 series tires you went wrong somewhere. Lol

A bunch of really nice wheels posted up. And for all various reasons. I chose mine based on i like the old style "D" hole wheels, and i like the look of beadlocks. And cuz their illegal here in NJ. I went with Pro Comps Proxy 45 wheels.
20190316_154520_HDR.jpg i like the look. Basically @kathyjk. Look around. I'm sure you have a certain style or look your goin for. There are several companies that will mount and balance certain wheels and tires. And deliver to your door. Jjst mount them up. I prefer Quadratec. Whatever you decide. Post up a photo or 2. We like Jeep porn.

And @boondoc89. We're untitled to our opinions. :D

Wow!! Thanks everyone ...those are some awesome looking jeeps!! Love all of them--- that is the problem...I am leaning towards black with a little contrast b/c I want to add a new bumper with a winch and light bar.. I just recently purchased a sunrider for the summer. I also was conflicted between the 2.5 and 3.5 " rubicon express lift ... right now looks like the 3.5 --any thoughts on this??

Lift height is dictated by tire size, and the lower the better.
IMO 2.5"-3" of lift for 35" tires, 3"-3.5" for 37s. (37s require more mods than a lift) The tan Jeep/orange wheels above has 3" of lift and 37s.
Anything over 3" you will have to address steering issues and you'll go down the modification rabbit hole quickly from there :).

4WParts (Rubicon Express) would not be my first choice to shop for a lift, look for a dedicated 4x4 shop in your area and study up before making a decision. Teraflex, Metalcloak, Rock Krawler, AEV all make a quality product. 4WParts also carries them but they'll push their house brand before other manufacturers. I always suggest taking your Jeep off road while stock so you understand what it can do and what mods you might need.

Also don't forget about your gearing to compensate for larger tires. Most people have the base 3.21 gears which are for a 29" tire. A general guide is 4.56-4.88 gears for a 35" tire, and 4.88-5.13 for a 37" tire for your 2016. Look to pay $1,600- $1,800 for a quality shop to do them. Add 1k per axle if you want a selectable locker for off road.

Lastly I'll say this: plan your build. <notice it's BOLD so very important LOL :D Don't just throw parts on willy/nilly or because they're a good deal. Decide how you want to use your Jeep, make a plan and build towards it.

    Good luck!!

    Welcome to the forum...
I am a fan of the black with milled accents wheels. I have a billet silver Wrangler that I want some gray and milled wheels for. But that being said, all black does look sweet on an all black Jeep.
