I am a rookie at working on my jeep, but I wanted to get some input on this issue. From time to time I get a really strong gas smell, shaking, and nasty looking exhaust on cold starts. Can usually just re-start and the issue goes away. Can it be as simple as replacing the fuel injector for the cylinder six? Seems like to me it might be in the wiring harness? Has anyone else had this problem?

Welcome to the site! Just noticed the code in the title. That code is triggered most times by the #6 fuel injector being the cause. Check the plug to the injector, swap the injector with another, and see if the code changes, or replace the injector.

Welcome! The fuel injector circuit for cylinder 6 is a common cause for P0206 so get it checked out.
