Hello all, new to this forum (but have been a lurker for a few weeks).

My adult son purchased a 1991 YJ a few months ago. I think part of the reason for the purchase is that he likes this style of Jeep and wanted something he and I could work on together (some father and son time). The YJ has a rebuilt engine (2.5) with about 5000 miles on it. A friend of mine is a Jeep fan who did a build on a CJ5 in high school, a CJ7 several years ago, and is currently doing a build on a 95 YJ, and he gave my son some great advice of things to look for when buying an old YJ. Overall, the Jeep doesn't look bad for a vehicle that is 29 years old.

A few weeks ago the YJ, while at an idle, just stopped running. Since then we have done the following:

    Test fuel pressure - None.
    Checked spark - Good.
Used starting fluid - Will briefly run.
    Checked Fuses - Good.
Checked Starter Relay - Appears to be good.
Listened for the fuel pump to prime when the key is turned - Nothing.
Dropped Fuel Tank - We will need a new skid plate (rust, big time).
Checked for power going to fuel pump - Got it.
Hooked 12V to fuel pump while in the tank - could not hear anything.
Hooked 12 to fuel pump while out of the tank - It runs, but is soooooooo quiet.

Not sure what to do now. Suggestions?

    Thanks!

Welcome @MacQ ....good detective work. At this point of the disassembly go for a replacement fuel pump and fuel filter. Post some pics of the YJ.
Start the search at quadratec.com for the skid

Yeah, good work. Report back on your repair.
