Ticking or knocking noise?

Noticed yesterday that a slower ticking noise has begun when the engine is running. The sound seems to stay the same regardless of rpms. Is this something I need to worry about?

Could be exhaust manifold leak that needs repair or infamous hemi tick.

 

Change oil first and see if ticking goes away. Would be the easiest fix. Lifter will tick if your oil pressure is low.

 

Agreed. I'd use Redline 5w30 oil.

 

How many miles do you have on it? If its higher miles, it could be sludge build up, a trick an old mechanic taught me many years ago for sludge build up was to add a qurt of ATF to the crank case, run for 200 miles, change the oil. If it was sludge, that will take care of it.

Exhaust Leak or lifter tick would be my first two guesses.
