Hey guys, I have a 2007 jeep grand Cherokee. It was running fine until a few weeks ago when I tried to start it, it wouldn't start. It gave me a msg that said transmission over temp. I had no previous issues with the starter, transmission, fuel pump, etc. When I try to start it up, it just keeps "swinging", sound like it wants to start but just keeps "swinging". What could the problem be? Thanks,

    Steve

Thank you. It sounds like it wants to start, but just keeps going and doesn't do anything.

I am still not sure on this "swinging" thing. Is your starter spinning the motor (turning over)? If so, is it doing it at the same speed it was before?

No, its not turning over. A friend says it might be the solenoids, but not sure.

Thanks for the clarification...it helps us help you. :)

A little on-line research seems to indicate it can be: 1. Cables/connectors to the solenoid or starter. OR 2. Needs a new battery? OR 3. Needs a new starter. And...even the tranny error seems to be common with this problem.

Start with the easy (cheap) ones. First, make sure your battery cables and the cable to the starter are clean and tight. Next: Take your battery to your local auto parts store (like Auto Zone) and have them test the battery. Most do it for free. 3. Most will also test the starter if you pull it but I would do that last myself.

    Hope this helps. :fingerscrossed:
