That many antennas could be indicative of a dedicated storm watcher aka chaser. Nice red XJ :hattip:

Replaced a radiator in my DD XJ and tried to install bump stops on the project XJ.
Apparently the XJs could have two different sized (diameter) bumpstops... I got the wrong size. I was able to cut them down and get them in but could not get the coil springs back on without disconnecting the control arms due to the extra 4" of rubber hanging down that has to go inside the spring. For some reason I couldn't get everything lined back up right so called it a night and cooked bacon and cheddar burgers instead.

Using the weight of the Jeep to set the bump stops in place. Will need a bit of trimming to clear 32-33"s at full compression but not much.

Bled the clutch, tried to bleed the brakes but blew a passenger side wheel cylinder instead.
Moved on to modifying the 97 XJ center console to fit in the 93. WOOOO Cup Holders.
Modified the auto shift bezel from the 97 to accept the manual shifter boot from the 93. Just have to find a 4wd bezel.

Nice @acerwin. Just curious. Why did you decide to build an XJ? Personally, I love the model. And basically cause it was my first jeep. But people don't generally build XJs. Can't wait to see the final product.

They’re cheap for one thing. Motors, trans, tcase can be found in any junk yard. Always been a fan of them also.

True. There are definitely parts and numerous donor jeeps out there for nice builds. They were a pretty popular model back then. I think alot of people that wanted an SUV, choose XJs cause of their appearances and the Jeep name. And they were a pretty sweet ride. Not to mention the after market parts and upgrades are just as plentiful as the Wrangler.

Not to mention, they are pretty tough! Stiff body, and can take a beating.

The XJs are built like the traditional jeeps with transfer cases and solid axles we associate with the "real" jeeps. One nice XJ benefit was the uni-body design that made them legendary for light-weight and stiffness.

@2oldjeeps. Sorry if I repeat myself. My intro to Jeeps. A 00 with 36k. Traded it in 13 years later with 199,200 plus. The day I traded it in. I still wasn't sure i wanted to. Still had many miles left in her. But, she gave her life for my long awaited JK. Still miss it. Honestly. I wave to XJ drivers. True....:jeepwave:
