WJ lift, is it worth it?

    good evening all, new to the site. To get down to the question, I recently came across a 99 Grand Cherokee WJ limited with AWD. it's in relatively good shape (I live in Iowa so it does have some salt cancer on the underside). basically I would like some input or suggestions on a 4" lift. what do i need to take into consideration and for most, is it worth it? would appeciate any input. thanks

    If the 4" lift gives you the look and functionality you desire then by all means get it done but inspect the Jeep completely to make sure the rust on the underside is not excessive, limited and repairable. With any lift expect decreased mpg, handling, towing etc.

    If you're going for the look, then go for it.
    If you're planning to take it off-roading, then you need to understand that AWD is not the same as 4WD. I suspect your vehicle is 4WD, not AWD.
    With the lift, I assume you're also going to be swapping on bigger tires. So another factor to keep in mind is that the Dana 30 in the front of the WJ is not particularly robust. If you're building a rig to look cool, it will probably hold up. But if you add lockers or any sort of HP increase, you can expect it to fail.
